Math- We will be telling time to the hour using an analog and digital clocks, telling time to the half hour, and using reasoning to tell and write time.  Next, we will begin “Topic 14- Reason With Shapes And Their Attributes,” where the students will use attributes to match shapes.

 

Reading- We will be continuing our fifth reading series reading the story Signs Of Winter.  This story will help us learn our reading skills: Main Idea, Inferences, and our reading genre: informational text.  

This Week’s Sight Words- should, today, years, warm, world

 

Phonics- We will be identifying the sound “Open/Closed Syllables” found in words and “Vowel Teams oo, ou” sounds found in words.

 

Grammar- We will be identifying where “Commas in Dates And Sentences” go. 

 

Listening- We will be continuing our next author study, “Tomie dePaola.” 

 

Writing- We will continue to focus on writing our letters correctly.  We also will be continuing to learn about the “writing process.” 

 

Religion- We will be learning about Chapter 26- “We Care for the Gifts of God’s Creation.”  

 

Social Studies- We will be starting our next unit- “Our Country/The World.”

 

ScienceWe will be starting our next unit- “Space.”

 

 


 

  Reminders: 

On Thursday, the students will be tested on their ten spelling words and sight words.  


The students will be having a Math Test on Topic 13 next week on Thursday, May 30, 2024.  Please review the completed work that was sent home, which we have already learned (Homework and Class Work).  

 

The students will be having their Social Studies Test this week on Friday, May 31, 2024. (review the paper that was emailed home).

Monday:         1. Math- Math Workbook 13-4

2. Phonics- Phonics Workbook Packet (2 Pages- Open/Closed Syllables)

3. Spelling- Write spelling words (1-5) two times each.

4. Sight Words- Practice the sight words.

5. Please return the 2 Previous Math Ziplock Bags- red/white counters, 

    tens and ones.

6. Reading- Read any summer book of your choice and complete the sandcastle 

    paper about the story.  Please color the crab red.  

    This is due: Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

 

 

Tuesday:        1. Math- Math Workbook 13-5

2. Phonics- Phonics Workbook Packet (1 Page- Vowel Teams oo, ou)

3. Spelling- Pick five spelling words, and write one sentence for each of the

     five words.  (Continuing from now on, I would like the students to put the (5) 

    spelling words in meaningful sentences.  This will help the students develop

   better writing skills.  For example: I see a giant bear at the zoo. Instead of 

    I see a giant bear.)

4. Sight Words- Practice the sight words.

 

 

 

Wednesday:   1. Math- Math Workbook 13-6 AND 14-1

2. Grammar- Phonics Workbook Packet (1 Page- Commas in Dates and Sentences)

3. Spelling- Practice the spelling words, for a test tomorrow.

4. Sight Words- Practice the sight words, to be assessed tomorrow.
