Math- We will be modeling thinking to solve problems, reviewing, and taking our test on “Topic 11.” Then, we will be beginning “Topic 12- Measure Lengths,” where we will be ordering objects by length.
Reading- We will be continuing our fifth reading series reading the story Seasons Around the World. This story will help us learn our reading skills: Main Idea, text features, and our reading genre: Informational text.
This Week’s Sight Words- done, once, upon, wash, water
Phonics- We will be identifying the sound “Long i: igh” found in words and “Suffixes –er/-or” sounds found in words.
Grammar- We will be identifying what “transitions and conjunctions” are.
Listening- We will be continuing to read a “Junie B. Jones” book by Barbara Park.
Writing- We will continue to focus on writing our letters correctly. We also will be continuing to learn about the “writing process.”
Religion- We will be learning about Chapter 23- “We Celebrate the Mass.”
Social Studies- We will be starting to learn about famous people: Helen Keller and Thomas Jefferson.
Science- We will be continuing our next unit, “Light.”
Reminders:
• This Friday, the students will be tested on their ten spelling words and sight words.
• Please practice the sight words from Unit 4. The students will be assessed on all of them starting on, April 29, 2024.
• The students will be having a Math Test on Topic 11 on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Please review the completed work that was sent home, which we have already learned (Homework and Class Work).
• The students will also be having their Social Studies Test on Communities Part 1 on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 (review the information that was sent home by email).
• Please practice the sight words from Unit 4. The students will be assessed on all of them starting this week, on April 29, 2024.
Monday: 1. Math- Math Workbook 11-7 2. Phonics- Phonics Workbook Packet (1 Page- Long i: Spelled igh) 3. Spelling- Write spelling words (1-5) two times each. 4. Sight Words- Practice the sight words. 5. Additional School Work: Do “I-Ready” ELA for 15 minutes.
Tuesday: 1. Math- Review Sheet and study for the test tomorrow. Please keep the “Review Sheet” at home for review. 2. Phonics- Phonics Workbook Packet (1 Page- Seasons Months Sorting) 3. Spelling- Write spelling words (6-10) two times each. 4. Sight Words- Practice the sight words.
Wednesday: 1. Math- “I-Ready” Math for 15 minutes. 2. Phonics- Phonics Workbook Packet (1 Page- Suffixes –er/-or) 3. Spelling- Pick five spelling words, and write one sentence for each of the five words. (Continuing from now on, I would like the students to put the (5) spelling words in meaningful sentences. This will help the students develop better writing skills. For example: I see a giant bear at the zoo. Instead of I see a giant bear.) 4. Sight Words- Practice the sight words.
Thursday: 1. Math- Math Workbook 12-1 2. Grammar- Phonics Workbook Packet (1 Page- Transitions/Conjunctions) 3. Reading- Read “Decodable Reader- “The Sailor” 4. Spelling- Practice the spelling words, for a test tomorrow. 5. Sight Words- Practice the sight words, to be assessed tomorrow.
